October 1, 2024PA Day Oct 11

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This is a reminder that students will not be attending school on Friday, October 11th as it is a Ministry of Education approved professional development day.

According to the Better School and Students Outcome Act, school boards are required to post details about the specific activities staff will be participating in on Professional Activity Days.

Friday, October 11th PA Day (Full Day)

Morning Session:

In the morning, teachers and support staff will be participating in a workshop facilitated by Dr. Lisa Cranston. Dr. Cranston is a Self-Regulation Learning Facilitator and presenter with the MEHRIT Centre. She is a frequent contributor to their online publications. The focus of the presentation will be how the concepts and strategies of Shanker Self-Regulation can be used by education professionals to support children with multiple exceptionalities and their families, as well as exploring the importance of self-regulation for educators themselves.

Afternoon Sessions:

The afternoon will be divided into two sessions. The first session will be a series of presentations on lifting/transfers and positioning of students facilitated by the therapy teams from the John McGivney Children’s Centre.

The second session will be focused on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the creation of visuals to support student learning in the classroom. This presentation will be facilitated by Angelica McGuire (Communicative Disorders Assistant) from the John McGivney School Authority.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school directly at (519) 977-2200.

Sincerely,

Mike Wilcox,
