Accessibility Standards

The John McGivney Children's Centre provides services and conducts business in a manner that reflects the key principles of independence, dignity, integration and equality of opportunity. 

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) is a law that was passed by the Ontario legislature in 2005, with the goal of achieving accessibility for Ontarians with disabilities by 2025. 

In keeping with AODA legislation, the John McGivney Children's Centre has developed a multi-year Accessibility Plan 2013 - 2016 that describes how JMCC will identify, remove and prevent barriers in the areas of architecture, environment, attitudes, finances, employment, communication, transportation, community, and integration. These barriers apply to people who work and receive services at the Centre, including clients, caregivers, employees, students and volunteers, as well as visitors to the Centre.
