Dear Parents and Guardians

This is a reminder that your child will not be attending school on Friday, November 15th as we are having a Ministry approved PA Day. This day is aligned with our co-terminus Boards in the Windsor-Essex region. 

The following is an outline of the learning that staff will be participating in on the PA Day. 

Friday, November 15th PA Day (Full Day)

Our upcoming PA Day will be divided into morning and afternoon sessions.

Morning Session

Teachers will be participating in a PD session at the University of Windsor, hosted by the Faculty of Human Kinetics. 

Session Title: Adapted Physical Exercise Program (APEX): Promoting Health and Wellness for Students with Physical Disabilities 
 
Description: The APEX Program works to ensure inclusive, barrier-free participation in physical activity and sport for adults with developmental disabilities by providing adapted physical exercise programming with the goal of enhancing overall health and quality of life. Participants will learn how to adapt physical activity that showcases the strengths of students with developmental disabilities in a physical activity and sport environment. *Proper activewear, including appropriate gym footwear is required.
 

Our Educational Support Staff will be participating in CPR training (all morning) 

Afternoon Sessions: 

All JMCCSA staff will participate in the following afternoon session:

A Parent's Journey Raising a Child with Special Needs -facilitated by JMCC Social Work Staff and a Guest Parent (12:30 t0 1:00 pm) 

Arts Can Teach - This professional development session, facilitated by Art Can Teach staff, supports educators in their learning about how to incorporate the Arts into their teaching to further engage students (1:00 to 2:30 pm)
